Bank of Japan holds its October Meeting on Market Operations with counterparties

The Bank of Japan's Financial Markets Department held its "Meeting on Market Operations" (October 2026) at the Bank's Head Office, according to a short notice the BoJ published dated 15 October 2026. The meeting is a standing forum between the Bank and its counterparties for market operations — the financial institutions that transact with the Head Office — and the notice records the format and agenda rather than any decision.

Who attended. The notice lists the BoJ side as the Director-General of the Financial Markets Department, the Head of the Coordination and Market Analysis Division, the Head of the Market Operations Division, and the Head of the Market Infrastructure Division, meeting counterparties that transact with the Head Office.

The agenda. It records remarks and briefings on three subjects:

  • Recent developments in the financial markets and the Bank's market operations, by the Director-General of the Financial Markets Department;
  • Liquidity in and functioning of the JGB (Japanese government bond) markets, by the Head of the Coordination and Market Analysis Division;
  • Trends in the money market in Japan — results of the Tokyo Money Market Survey (August 2026), by the Head of the Market Infrastructure Division.

This is a procedural record: the BoJ documents that the meeting took place and what was presented, not the substance of the discussion or any change to operations. For the detail behind the agenda items — JGB market functioning and the Tokyo Money Market Survey — the underlying publications the briefings drew on are the sources to read; the notice itself only names the topics. It is included here because it marks the BoJ's regular dialogue with its operation counterparties, and the Tokyo Money Market Survey (August 2026) is the dated data point behind the third item.
