Turkey's annual inflation edges up to 29.77% in October as monthly prices jump 2.58%

Consumer prices in Turkey rose 2.58% in October from September, according to the inflation table published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, taking annual inflation to 29.77% from 29.73% in September. The October figures were released on 3 November.

The monthly rise was the largest since April, when prices rose 4.18%, and compares with 1.84% in both August and September. Annual inflation has been below 30% for two months, after 31.51% in August and 31.75% in July; in October 2025 it stood at 32.87%, with a monthly rise of 2.55%, almost the same as this year.

The central bank's summary of its 22 October Monetary Policy Committee meeting, published on 30 October, said energy prices remained elevated and volatile because of geopolitical developments and that agricultural commodity prices were also high because of adverse weather. It reported that the bank's gross international reserves had fallen by $9.6 billion between 11 September and 16 October, to $169.1 billion.

What it means

The annual rate barely moved because last October's monthly rise was almost as large, so the base effect hid a sharp month. The next figures matter more: if monthly rises stay above 2%, the decline in annual inflation that brought it under 30% stalls.
